Premiere Services, the nation’s largest provider of catalytic converter theft replacements, recently met with Indiana Congressman Jim Baird (R) and the office of Minnesota Congresswoman Betty McCollum (D) regarding the PART Act (H.R. 6394), which Rep. Baird sponsored, and Rep. McCollum has cosponsored.

As strong proponents of the PART Act, which seeks to include stamping a vehicle’s VIN onto its catalytic converter and other parts that contain precious metals, Premiere Services voiced our support and recommended further steps to be taken that would drastically reduce both the occurrence and impact of catalytic converter thefts.

Among the innovative ideas introduced by Premiere Services at these meetings was easing the restrictions on the use of recycled catalytic converters in order to depress value and reduce loss costs. This includes reusing recovered stolen catalytic converters and those found on totaled vehicles.
